Joseph G. D'Angelo, Ph.D.
Dr. D’ is a graduate of the Honors Program at Queens College and has a master’s degree in Literature and Creative Writing, and a doctorate in Communication Arts and Sciences from New York University. He holds licenses in English, Gifted Education, and Educational Administration and is trainer of teachers of AP English.
He began his career at Collegiate School for Boys in Manhattan and came to Manhasset Schools where he has served in many positions, including District Specialist in Gifted Education, master teacher of AP English Teachers, and Technology Specialist. He continues to be widely sought as a speaker and educational consultant in private practice.
Dr. D’Angelo has been named many times to “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.” Other recognition includes: honors from Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society, outstanding teacher recognition from the University of Chicago, the University of Richmond, and Yale University, the New York State English Council Teacher of Excellence, and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. He has been honored by Harvard University as the first Distinguished Teaching Fellow, and Collegiate Alumni have honored him as a Distinguished Teacher Emeritus. Many of his former students earn their livelihoods writing and dozens have published books and screenplays.
He is most proud of the fact that he has helped thousands of young people pursue life goals.
